Mechanical structure specification and working theory
As HX-20 high power three-phase steelmaking arc furnace is a type of lifting and swing aside furnace roof. Tapping manner is EBT. 

The mechanical part is as follow:

>Furnace body
Furnace is consisted of shell, roof, EBT mechanism and door, etc. The shell is of welding structure of making of 20mm steel slab. Outside furnace shell there are water cool leg and brace plate to increase rigidity. EBT is at the bottom of furnace. There is a furnace lining of refractory inside the shell. Roof is of welding structure. Whole cover is cooled by water. Refractory material is lined inside furnace cover. Furnace door mechanism is consisted of door frame,slide way and door elevator. The door elevator is driven by air cylinder. The water cool frame of the door is box structure.
>Furnace tilting mechanism
Furnace tilting mechanism are consisted of arc frame, hydraulic cylinder of slanting furnace, slide way and pneumatic cushion. The max slanting angle to the tapping steel side is 20°and tapping slag side is 15°. Slanting is driven by piston cylinder. Arc frame which slanting radius is 3000mm roll on the horizontal slide way. Slide against nail is set on the arc frame to prevent slide. Two sides of hydraulic cylinder are connected to slanting flat and basement respectively. All the hydraulic cylinder connection adopts articulate bear to eliminate radius force caused by installation error.
There are horizontal support and rotate support lug under the slanting flat.The rotate support must support slanting flat while furnace lid rotate outside. The rotate support must come back while the cover is on the top of furnace.When horizontal support is unfold and furnace is on the horizontal position,the electric furnace can still on the horizontal position even if the hydraulic cylinder of slanting furnace is removed. It should not be overturn. The horizontal support must come back while furnace is tapping slag.
Furnace roof and swing mechanism is consisted of swing frame, lift and swing mechanism. Rotate frame is welded as "г"type structure. A flat with pillar guide roller is set on it. All the radiant parts are covered by water cool structure to decrease high temperature deformation and prolong service life.
The roof is consisted of two hydraulic cylinders and four connecting rods. The structure guarantees the roof lifting vertically and no horizontal displacement. In the hydraulic system synchronous valve is used to assure two hydraulic cylinder moved simultaneously. The lifting and rotation of the roof is mechanical locking. The roof can swing outside only after connecting rod pull the locking pin out of the fixed position hole of the slanting flat while hydraulic cylinder lift the furnace cover. When the roof swing back, the locking will be realized after the locking pin insert the hole of slanting flat. This structure is simple, safe and reliable.
Furnace roof swing mechanism is mainly consisted of axis bearing, support roller and swing hydraulic cylinder that is on the slanting flat. Swing axis bearing has two sets of bearing which eliminate the swing shaft's bending movement caused by manufacture and installation error. Two sets of support roller are under the rotating frame. They move on the arc rail of slanting flat. Furnace cover, lift and rotate mechanism can revolve outside and back at slanting flat by the driven of swing hydraulic cylinder. Hydraulic cylinder has a buffer structure. The place, which the roof revolves back, equip with mechanical buffer structure to reduce its impact.
